There’s something about a blue-green that instantly makes a room exhale.
When I started dreaming about our master bedroom, I didn’t want bright or busy. I wanted calm. Rest. A space that felt like stepping away from the noise of the day. So instead of painting just the walls, I decided to color drench the entire room — walls, trim, and doors — in one beautiful blue-green shade.

And honestly? It changed everything.

Color drenching wraps the room in a single tone, which softens harsh lines and makes the space feel cohesive and cozy. There’s no visual stopping point, so the eye relaxes. The room feels bigger, moodier, and more intentional all at once.

This color was the perfect choice because it sits right between soothing and rich. It has the calmness of blue with the warmth and earthiness of green, which makes it feel restful without feeling cold. During the day it reads fresh and airy, and at night it feels deep and cocoon-like, exactly what you want in a bedroom.

It also plays beautifully with natural textures like wood, linen, and brass, which keeps the space feeling layered and lived-in instead of flat.
This color is high on the chameleon color chart, in the warm morning light (when these after pictures were taken), this color pulls deep olive green. But on a regular 2pm sunny day, the color pulls a bright crisp blue. One of the many reasons why I love this color so much.

So, if you’re craving a bedroom that feels peaceful, grounded, and a little bit elevated, don’t be afraid to go all in on one color. Sometimes the boldest choice is also the most calming choice. And I’m pretty sure I made the best choice in using Benjamin Moore Intrigue for our bedroom renovation.
Note: I color matched with Sherwin Williams paint because that is what I prefer.
All in all, this is one of my favorite rooms in our home, but not because it’s fancy or has any of the current trends on tap, but simply because it finally feels like the retreat it deserved… well, WE deserved!
