The seasons around us have always reflected the seasons within us. Each month, The Good Guide is an invitation to slow down, tend what’s in front of you, and find beauty in the ordinary. You’ll find lifestyle inspiration for your home, your garden, your table, and most importantly, encouragement for your heart.
Making Room Again
September has always felt less like a beginning and more like a returning.
We return to schedules. We return to earlier evenings and familiar rhythms. We begin spending a little more time inside. The garden that demanded so much attention through the summer starts slowing down, and somehow, we start turning our attention inward too, to our homes, our routines, our families, and maybe even our own hearts.
But I don’t think returning has to mean rushing back into productivity. Maybe September can be a gentler kind of reset. Not an endless list of everything we need to fix before the year ends, but an invitation to notice what has gotten out of rhythm. What needs tending again? What have we neglected? What deserves more of our attention and what has been taking far too much of it?
There is something beautiful about the changing of seasons because creation never seems embarrassed to change pace. Trees don’t apologize for releasing their leaves. Gardens don’t consider themselves failures when production slows. Daylight doesn’t fight to remain until nine o’clock simply because that’s what it did in July.
Creation receives the rhythm God assigns it. And maybe we should too.
This new season isn’t about becoming entirely new people. Perhaps it’s simply an invitation to come home again. To fill our tables, to evaluate our routines, to reprioritize our priorities, to be intentional with our people, and most importantly, abide deeply with the One who has remained steady through every season.
So this month, I’m not chasing after a dramatic reset. I’m simply returning. To all the rhythms that make our home feel peaceful. Returning to cozy meals around the table. Returning to the unfinished projects with fresh eyes and focus. Returning to Scripture before the noise of the day. Returning to gratitude for every ordinary thing.
Because sometimes moving forward doesn’t require finding something new.
Sometimes it looks like remembering what mattered all along.
“Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths… walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” Jeremiah 6:16
A few things I’m looking forward to this month…
- That first unexpectedly cool crisp morning!!
- Opening the windows instead of turning on the air
- Bringing the garden’s final summer harvests in to enjoy
- Planting veggie crops for the cooler season
- Bread baking while soup simmers on the stove
- Getting back into steady rhythms that make our days feel grounded
- Tackling an unfinished home project… or 10
- Thrifting for specific pieces with warmth and character
- Earlier evenings cozied at home
- Watching the garden slow down
- Adding layers, textures and new patterns instead of completely redecorating
- Lighting a candle while making dinner
- High priority for daily reading
- Trading summer’s hurry for autumn’s invitation to settle
- Remembering that slowing down isn’t the same as falling behind
1. loving, wanting or eager to try
Love… MY Goodness, I’ve never heard this explained so well. Who can relate?!?
Eager to try… this charred goodness (& I don’t really even love cauliflower but this may change my mind!!)
Want… to add this delicious fall treat to the menu next month 🎃
Love… a good time saving hack

👆🏽 Did somebody say sweater weather.. Because I am ready! Stumbled across this gem of a sweater, because warm brown and stripes scream “Let’s go to the farmers market!” LINKED HERE
👆🏽 If there is ONE appliance I had to only choose, it would either be our air fryer or instapot. I am pretty sure you can cook just about any meal you want in either of them. I love love the glass bowl in this Ninja air fryer crisper and it is currently on sale!
👆🏽Over the years I have grown so fond of a beautiful faux stem. These faux mums DO NOT disappoint & just look at that color!
2. a leap of faith
This feels a little vulnerable to share, but I suppose that’s why I’m calling it a leap of faith!!!
One of my biggest goals right now is to grow my YouTube channel enough to monetize it. Not because I’m chasing riches or some huge online career, but because I would love for the work I’m already doing and the life I’m already sharing to help support the calling God has placed on my life.
Being a stay-at-home mom is one of the greatest gifts I’ve been given. I’m incredibly grateful that I get to be present for these ordinary days with my boys, while also having this creative space where I can share our home, projects, garden, motherhood, faith, failures, growth, and all the little blessings woven throughout our everyday life.
My prayer is that YouTube can eventually become a way to financially support that calling, to contribute to our family while still being home, still serving them first, and still creating from a place that feels true to who God made me to be.
So here comes the shameless plug: if you’ve enjoyed following along with our life here, I would be so grateful if you would subscribe to my YouTube channel. It costs absolutely nothing, but every single subscription helps me get one small step closer to this goal and I’ve got a long way to go.
This dream in my heart has never been about having more. It’s about faithfully stewarding what God has already placed in my hands and trusting Him enough to take the next step. What a gift that is!

Worth listening to twice…
The awe never stops 😭❤️🙏🏽
Maybe a little wake up call… maybe a little reminder.. overall I think it’s something we have to remember every single day 🙌🏽
My toxic trait is thinking this would be a simple 1 hour craft.. But also, why do I want to make myself one 😍
If you’re around me for any amount of time, I talk about this OFTEN. This is an incredible study and finding!!
5. good words

happy September good guide, my friends
September doesn’t have to be a race to get our lives back together. Maybe it’s just an invitation to return, to slower rhythms, familiar tables, unfinished work, grateful hearts, and the God who never asked us to hurry in the first place.
