Homemade Baked Beans

These easy crock pot baked beans are jam packed with flavor and are sure to be a crowd pleaser for any BBQ!

Equipment

  • 1 crock pot

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound dried northern beans soaked overnight then parboiled
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 medium diced onion
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 ¾ cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dijon mustard
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp pepper

Instructions
 

  • Add bacon and onion to a large pot and sauté over medium heat until onion has caramelized and bacon is brown. Add in garlic and heat until fragrant.
  • Add onion mixture into crock-pot.
  • Add all remaining ingredients to crock-pot. Stir well. Cook for 8-10 hours (4 on high, then the rest on low)

Notes

Alternate cooking method if no crock pot is available. You can put all ingredients in stock pot after cooking onion mixture, bring everything to a boil then reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 4-5 hours. Stirring occasionally while cooking.
